This is what I’ve been helping to organize… take a look. Thanks.
I’m happy to say that Lydia & I are moving into a new place in the beginning of October. It’s an old Latvian famrhouse built in the 1930’s that was renovated in a Norwegian farmhouse style about 7 or 8 years ago. It comes complete with 2 fireplaces embedded in the walls on the first floor, along with a massive red-brick fire-heated cooktop & oven that is about 3m (10 ft.) in width. The kitchen & bathroom have heated tile floors, so our tootsies will be nice & cozy come wintertime. We will rent only the first floor for now. Here are a few photos to give the gist of this lovely place. More images to follow in the coming weeks.
Earlier I wrote about the feud between the two Latvian mic makers, Blue & Violet. Since that time, Blue is still developing their own mics & now Violet has come back on the scene as Violet Design with a few more specialty mics in their arsenal from their main engineer Jūris Zāriņš (who originally designed the guts of Blue mics). I got to meet the guys of JZ Mics & Violet Design at NAMM 2008 in Los Angeles, which was a lovely & auspicious opportunity. I’m a happy supporter of those two companies & I am happy to boo down Blue for their poor business practices. Boo Blue! Yay Violet!
A recent editorial about the current condition of Latvia’s government ends with that statement. I’m reiterating this cry. Where are the Latvians with the integrity, expertise & fear of God who can rise up to give leadership to this nation? Oh Lord! Please find them & bring them up now!
In recent news, Latvia is perched on a precarious branch of unstable governmental practices. Large investigations of political leaders that have led to the arrest of one city’s mayor & members of parliament undergoing questioning of their possible bribe acceptance is painting a grim picture for the future of Latvia’s government & economy. The Economist released a report on the economic health of 10 Eastern European nations & has pegged Latvia as the one in the worst condition.
Let us continue to pray for God’s righteous to flood this land & that repentance would come swiftly & firmly & that His justice would reign here.
I hope this effort is a highly effective & successful one…
